Engene Science Inc. is a fast growing Korean biotech company in functional food industry which focuses on products for diabetes, cholesterol related CVD and obesity.
23 scientists are working R&D teams for developing functional foods, biospecialty chemicals and bioinformatics as short, mid and long term projects respectively. In 1998, Eugene Science succeeded in liquefying plant sterol for the first time in the world. This became our main business item CZ, which is a natural substance extracted from plants and effectively blocks cholesterol taken into the body through diet lowering cholesterol level in plasma.
CholZero, as a new concept functional beverage which contains CZ, is currently being marketed in Korea product lines into cooking oils, salad dressings, margarine, mayonnaise and butter.
Recently, we have closed a deal with Japans Hokuyo Koeki, the trading company of the Pio Group. With this alliance, the Japanese companies made an order for US$5.3 million this year and oddered to make an additional investment of US$3 million won in the company.
As the only company in the world to process water soluble plant sterol, wave got an extensive opportunities to advance into the global market as a result of this alliance.
